Within Cages Poem by ekta somera

Within Cages

the last time
i held my breath
a thousand feathers
nestled inside my head
like hippies trapped
in a bird cage,
as the seconds passed
like hours - invasive thoughts
preluded the faint heartbeat
suffocating beneath my ribcage,
peering into oblivion
i tasted the bitter - sweet
craving - ah, freedom
