Wonderful Tonight Poem by Alexander Foald

Wonderful Tonight

A falling star beneath the blankets of night
And some kind of light behind its tail, sparkling
Watching your face sleep inside my arms
Dreams come and go between your breathing

Just a moment before I make a wish
Something about you forced me to think twice
My heart won’t calm as it knows I can’t be wise
But your hands slip warmth into my spineless thoughts

And you are here, real and firm
Like a thousand nights in an endless dream
I can feel the air so light and cool
I wonder how you make me look like a fool

I wonder why we met before the day is through
I wonder why fates collide before we know they do
So much wonders, yet you never know which one
That makes me crazy while thinking about you
