Words Poem by Keli Mims

Words

Words I once wrote,
Sailded away like a boat.
Words that rang true,
Words that loved you.
Gone now like a wisper in the wind,
Oh, those words I never meant to send.
The words that spoke innocence,
Words that once made sense.
Lost in the turbulant sea,
Oh, these words that came from me.
Words that once held hope dear,
Words that calmed fear.
Spoken by my voice, unshakeable,
To hear you repeat them was incredible.
These words of care,
Words that drove me into dispair.
Little words that drove me insane,
Three words that gave me pain.
Words we once had spoken,
Left my heart open.
Words that healed what we never saw,
Words that escaped inevitable flaw.
They wrap around you then me,
How young, how foolish are we?
To enslave ourselves to the words we speak,
When they were only spoken out of heat.
I didn't want to lose you,
You didn't want to lose me too.
What else were we to do,
Thenspeak the words I love you?
