Worlds Of Heavy Stones Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Worlds Of Heavy Stones

As far as we truly know,
No visitors from stars below
Have ever landed on our shore,
To knock upon a human door.

Yet in the movies and the books,
They share our general shape and looks.
With heads, and arms, and walking feet,
How often is that strange deceit!
Why do they look so much like us,
Without a single extra fuss?
Is it because it's only art,
And made inside the human heart?

Imagine worlds of heavy stone,
Where crushing gravity is known.
A giant planet, wide and grand,
Pulls downward on the heavy land.

There, creatures crawl upon the ground,
With many legs spread all around.
With barrels for a solid frame,
Their bodies are not shaped the same.

Like armored crabs they walk and creep,
Where falling down is hard and steep.
They never stand upright like men,
Upon a high-mass world like then.
