Worthy Poem by Sophia King

Worthy

We as women have been used and abused,
Wounded in our uniqueness, and silenced in our own thoughts.
While trying to mask the pain and shame we wear
Because we know we are worthy to express our truth without restrictions, but our conditions tell us that we are not.
Yet, we can't listen to defeat,
We must rise to find that part of us that wishes to be free of the degrading, berating mentality.
We must break free from the undeserving, disrespectful stigma that we have allowed to infiltrate our minds,
Whichis designed to make us feel worthless and less than the queens we are.
A star that rises out of the mire clay of ashes.
Yes, I'm talking to the masses of women out there.
Can you hear me? See me? Feel me? Are not you we?
Ladies, we must take ownership of our stock and know how hot of a commodity we are.
We must let no other ever disgrace us again.
To begin, we must take our freedom back from the vicious attacks on our character and dare to live out our dreams to their highest esteems.
Just how long should we stand in the humility of our nakedness to feel vulnerable to what society says we are?
We are mothers, sisters, and daughters standing on the shoulders of a long line of proud women that came before us.
They were just as unique in their physiques and demanded to be praised in their days, and we should do the same.
It doesn't matter if you are black, white, yellow, or brown
We must surround each other and raise our voices in a united front while on the hunt for equality.
We need to pick up our cross and not get lost in this male chauvinistic environment.
We must boss-up to know that we were meant to be far more than this world could ever conceive.
Thus, we must believe we are worthy.
