Wound Poem by Patrick Frazier

Wound

The periodic shouting to God in agony
Still ringing in the ears
Repetition's power over the mind
Blank stares go through the motions

Trauma regurgitating in the half light
As it bleeds from the mind for hours
Death found him hiding in a box
Holding tight the inner locks

Hauled away by voices
"Infinite living existence that later created nothingness
Created nothingness in response to evil"

A purple nebula emerging from a draped corpse
Spirits carrying disease across the cosmos
Eternal beings corrupted in eternity
Phantoms haunting the faintly illuminated worlds

Humanity pillaged and plundered
Ate the dead
And tore each other asunder

A leafless golden tree
Branches of the nervous system collecting light
Below stormy flashes of disjointed life

Timelines lived and unlived
In hidden dimensions
Belief and disbelief suspended
The angels at attention
Guarding gates of hell's redemption
Their beauty in our blood.
