Woven Wool Poem by John Sensele

Woven Wool

If love leapt from your lips
Flattering the curves of your hips
I'd declare such love null and void
To give my heart a chance to avoid

A looming heartbreak
To which I'd rather give a break
Preferring the safety of noncommittal
To the illusion of the love hospital

My heart despises
In love surprises
You spring on me
Alongside the fun you see

In taking me for a ride
Hurting my pride
Taking me for a fool
Pulling over my eyes your wily wool.
