Wretched Vs. Divine Poem by Troy Clark

Wretched Vs. Divine

The tower falls like snow
crashing down, it's weight undeniable
and those beneath, crushed
"I won't forget" an Angel whispers
turns, sword drawn, pointing towards
the sunset, as clouds stretch forth
like grasping hands

The wretched pour forth like water
devouring the faithful with an Oceans fury
The hate is palpuable, a taste of sin
of fury, of unbridled fear
Death hangs in the air like a guitine
as gravity takes its toll, heads rolling with the wind

"I won't forget" and, as she turns
the air around her and her brethern explode
The heat, unbearable against their flesh
wither away like roses in the chill of night
Blown back, physics does what physics wills
like a bullet she crashes into the side of the Keep
A gasp, barely audible, like silk on silk
escapes her.
Yet, this Angel, she doesn't bleed
she doesn't fear the Darkness
It's heat, it's passion to rule
pain eludes her
"I won't forget"

Rising, her wings spread wide
and it's gusts brush away the rubble near
revealing the bodies of the slain
If she could call humans friends, she gladly would
but, tempered as the steel might be, there's always a flaw
in it's structure. Just like them, humans.
Yet, not simple objects in her mind
she feels pity at this pointless loss of life
"It's not their fault"

She looks to the west
where the sky is red like blood
The crack in the world convulsions and writhes
like broken fingers, each tendril moves in broken angles
The time is upon them
the reckoning
the final battle
and she intends to succeed.
