Yeah Right

1

'Yeah right, ' she scoffed with a bitter grin
A phrase that echoed within her skin
From the tip-tippy-toppy of a broken heart
To the deepest crevices, it tore apart
Yeah right, she said, with a twinge of pain
Memories flooding like a relentless rain
She was the widow, the one left behind
To pick up the pieces of a love that declined
On the highest high of low, she stood
A Queen resurrected, but not for good
For she was just a shadow, a mere reflection
Of the love that once filled her with affection
But now she's just the first little flower
On the brightest patch of snow, she cowers
Happiness, once so easy to find
Slipped through her fingers, left her blind
'I'm so slap silly happy, ' she said
But the weight of sorrow hung in her head
Everybody wants to take what's hers
But she'll hold on tight, for what it's worth
Yeah right, she whispered, with a sigh
The words so bitter, they made her cry
Everything she ever wanted and more
Was just a facade, a closed door
Someday she'll get paid, she believed
For the pain and tears she's received
But was it worth it, she couldn't say
For her heart and soul, she gave away
More than it was worth, to sell her soul
To someone who never made her whole
Yeah right, she thought, with a heavy heart
For she was just a rockstar, playing her part
A twisted knife, wounds deep inside
But she'll keep smiling, she'll never hide
For it makes it easier to tell the truth
'I don't need you anymore, ' she said, so uncouth
Life's a game, til you lose and fall
A constant battle, she faced it all
A new level of not giving a f*ck
She reached, her armor made of steel and luck
Yeah right, she repeated, with a smirk
For the real world, she didn't need to work
Was it her fault, as they all claimed
For giving more and more, as she was tamed
Trapped in a cycle of love and pain
Giving until there was nothing to gain
More and more, until she was spent
But she'll rise again, she'll never relent
Hey yeah, she'll say, with determination
For she's stronger now, in her realization
Yeah right, she'll shout, with a newfound power
For she's the one in control of her tower
Baby, that sounds nice, she'll say with pride
Everything she ever wanted and more, by her side
Someday, she'll get paid with true love
More than it was worth, her soul, she'll finally shove
Yeah right, she'll whisper one last time
As she looks back at the past, sublime
For now, she's free, to live and love
With no regrets, she'll fly like a dove
Yeah right, she'll never be a victim again
For she's the victor, in her battle, she'll reign
More than it was worth, to sell her soul
She'll never do it again, for she's finally whole

Yeah right, I'm the widow on top
At the highest of highs and the lowest of lows
Yeah right, I'm the shadow that never stops
The first little flower on the brightest snow
Happiness can be a needle in a haystack
But I'm so slap silly happy, it's hard to believe
Everybody wants to take my joy, they attack
Yeah right, but their envy, I'll never relieve
That sounds nice, everything we've ever craved
Someday, we'll get paid for selling our souls
More than it was worth, we'll finally be saved
Yeah right, but until then, we'll keep playing our roles
I'm a rock star, yeah I wear that crown
A queen resurrected, still just as messed up
Yeah right, twist the knife, it only brings me down
But it makes it easier to tell you, I no longer give a f*ck
Life's a game, until you lose and then what?
I'm reaching a new level of not giving a damn
Yeah right, that sounds nice, but in reality, it's tough
Everything we've ever wanted, just a mirage in the sand
Someday, yeah someday, we'll get paid
For all the sacrifices and the lies we've told
More than it was worth, our souls we've betrayed
But we'll do whatever it takes, for that pot of gold
Tell me, how's the real world treating you?
Is it my fault too, for your broken soul?
My one mistake, giving more and more and more
But I'll keep giving, until I reach my ultimate goal
Yeah right, that sounds nice, everything you've dreamed
But someday, we'll get paid, for all the pain we've endured
I can't wait for that day, when our souls will be redeemed
More than it was worth, our worth will finally be assured
More and more and more, that's all we ever want
But it comes at a cost, our sanity and our hearts
Hey yeah, but we'll keep going, we'll never stop
Selling our souls, until we're torn apart
Yeah right, but who are we to judge?
When the world is full of hypocrites and liars
We'll keep playing the game, even as it gets rough
And we'll keep selling our souls, to light our worldly fires
But maybe, just maybe, it's all just a facade
Yeah right, we'll keep telling ourselves that
But deep down, we know, it's all a fraud
And someday, we'll have to face the fact
But until then, we'll keep saying yeah right
To the dreams and hopes that keep us going
Yeah right, we'll keep chasing that light
Even if it means, our souls we'll keep selling and owing
So tell me, is it all worth it in the end?
Selling our souls, just for a chance at success
Yeah right, but we'll keep pretending
And someday, we'll pay the ultimate price, I confess
But for now, we'll keep singing this song
Yeah right, with a smile on our face
We'll keep singing it loud and strong
Until we find our rightful place
Yeah right, that sounds nice
Someday, we'll get paid
More than it was worth, to sell our souls for a price
But until then, we'll keep saying yeah right, in this never-ending charade.
