Yearnings Unexplained Poem by Santosh Bakaya

Yearnings Unexplained

YEARNINGS UNEXPLAINED
From the February sky
A cloudlet peeks at me
What is it trying to see?
My hidden emotions erupt from the heart
Shedding their winter cloaks
Fly high to ride a cloud and waltz away
Unbidden.
They swing with the breeze
Hang from the trees
A naïve me trying to tease
And then freeze.
Slowly getting sepia tints
Settling down in a heap
And I weep for those days flown.
Why have they flown, I groan.
Why, why do I still yearn for the resurrection
Of those burnt bridges?

But my heart is unburdened
And begins to sing
A new song
The notes of which flow in the air
Unfurling mirthfully over the sloping contours of the earth
To glow in the bright beams of the sunlight
New.
