Yes, For What You Are Not Poem by *Tony Cemaluk Egbuonu

Yes, For What You Are Not

Are you an adult?
Are you a sage?
Are you honest?
Are you sane?
Are you impartial?
Are you incorruptible?

Are you in character?
Are you responsible?

Do your deeds match your words?
Or were they calculated, deliberate, deceitful?

If not, own it first.
Perchance, you may be forgiven.

But if yes —
Who are you deceiving?
Who are we fooling?

Yes.
For what you are not.
Yes.
For what you are not.
