Yesterday Poem by Rebekah O'Donley

Yesterday

As curtains draw, and prayers are revealed
A cinematic portrait, of what has now been sealed
A pertaining impression, as we watch tomorrow die
To hold you only once, and gaze into your eyes
For I longed to breathe, of how you made me whole
As your voice suddenly surrendered to my soul
I drifted through every moment, speechlessly aware
That you alone had always been, my sole refuge of air

Amidst, within, every glistening tear I shed
A simple reflection continually was shown
As I craved to ink each daily verse
To make my devotion known

One last night and one last dream could only roam upon
Every shadow of the evening which echoed vacant songs
Until you seized me once, and gently held me close
From every beginning, left me wordless to compose

A symphony you engraved upon my heart
One, that I'll always strive to convey
For you always have been, and always will be
The one I fell in love with yesterday
