Yesterday Was Bright And Sunny Poem by Anna Horton

Yesterday Was Bright And Sunny

Yesterday was bright and sunny.
I went downstairs for some toast and honey.
My mother was there, she looked and said,
'Babe, we done run out of bread.
You don't mind about that, now do you? '

'I don't mind about that, ' I said.

In the afternoon I went to town
to see a film of some renown.
I went inside, I got my ticket, but the manager said,
'We's out on picket!
You don't mind about that, now do you? '

'I don't mind about that, ' I said.

When the evening came, I thought a game
of pool would be the thing for me.
I found my table, I got my cue, but some dude said,
'This ain't for you. Maybe we could...? '

'You don't mind about that, now do you? '

'I don't mind about that, ' he said.

So I went home, all alone.
Had some supper and got on the phone,
but my best friend said, 'I'm too busy! Got too much to do!
I can't sit here talkin' with you!
You don't mind about that, now do you? '

'I don't mind about that, ' I said.

I went upstairs, lay on my bed, thought maybe I'd just rest my head.
But then I sat up and said,
'I do mind! I mind like hell! '
