You Poem by Jake Lugay

You

I do believe in God.
But maybe I’m lying.
I pray every night.
But inside I’m not trying.
I look out the window.
See the cold, rushing water.
I'm getting so nervous.
Blood couldn't be hotter.
Stumble down my back steps.
Face white as the noise,
That the river is making,
My thoughts, it destroys.
Tears starting to run.
My cheeks, they caress.
Is this my time?
My answer, is yes.
I jump in the river.
Trying to sink.
Do I want to die?
Now I’m starting to think.
I try to swim up,
Hold my breath real long.
But I can’t make it up,
The current’s too strong.
So now I’m drowning.
Don’t know what to do.
I’m panicking,
Yet I’m still thinking of you.
I gain strength to swim up.
Since you popped in my head.
Saw the image of losing you,
My soul would be dead.
Now I’m out of the water.
Shivering from the cold.
All I need is your warmth.
Just need you to hold.
