You Poem by chris schwartz

You

Didn't come a thousand miles
To sit here and be lonely
If that's the plan
You're dreaming of
Then I'm not
Your one and only.

Could have tarnished the walls
With the glare the others left
From their paint
That darkened my portrait
But you came along
Brushed the colors of Spring
On this saddened, wilting Orchid.

Just don't know
How you dared dream
Of fixing this flower
That blossomed
So Long ago.
Sure glad you freed me
In times of summer
But I see winter coming,
And I can't plow
Through the snow.

My eyes will open
I think
After this night
But I may just imagine
Closing them
Giving up this fight.
My precious loves
Who remain
On earth crying
Life isn't living
When you're constantly dying.
