You Poem by Kristen DonovanHutt

You

Rating: 5.0

I wake up in the morning
You pass across my mind
There without any warning
And yet, your face I cannot find

Where is that clever smile?
And that twinkle in your eyes?
Haven't been together in quite awhile
You have changed, and happiness fades

Your eyes are now blank, pained
Your tone is now dry and dull
I see your face, it is now stained
By war, loss and death so full

Do you still love me as before?
Or am I supposed to leave?
You need to know I love you, right to the core
And if you need to, we can sit and grieve

I just want us to be together
I am by your side for life
Through rain or snow, whatever weather
I will follow you through the strife
