You Are Feeling Despondent Poem by Francis Duggan

You Are Feeling Despondent

You are feeling despondent your mind is full of strife
And you are seriously thinking of taking your life
To your counsellors and psychiatrist most of your wages you pay
Though they are not helping you in any way
Alone in your room often reduced to tears
You have struggled with depression for many years
In your early thirties you feel your best days are gone
From prescribed medication you have put kilos of weight on
You say those who say they understand your mental suffering believe their own lie
And though you often feel suicidal your will to live far stronger than your wish to die
Depression has been with you for quite a long time
And you look much older though you are in your physical prime
A life onmedication of you is ahead
Not surprising at times you feel you wish you were dead.
