You Are Not Here. Poem by Ayandare Mayowa

You Are Not Here.

Rating: 5.0

Not often
but I heard your voice in my head again today,
was soft and fresh and near.
I saw the lovely smiles
replayed the hearty laughs
for it, would sail a thousand miles.
Alas! behold the gap.

Eleventh comes,
you not here
Had like to sing you a song,
buy you a rose.
Had like to hug you till dawn,
but you are not here.

Mother.
Life is still good,
but its inhabitants are not better,
still survival of the fittest,
but fitness now in its relativity high.
Forever grateful for how you raised me
but even me am...

Mum.
How are you?
Where are you?
Hopefully its better than this place.
Do you feel at home?
Are you allowed a peek of your old home?
Are you permitted a whisper to your children?
Do you even still remember my name?
or its all now a memory formatted and forgotten?

So sorry, got carried away
my thought sailed southward with whirlwind of emotions;
as I write this.
Eight years now you went yonder,
why so soon?
will forever wonder.

You thought me,
Nurtured and fought for me.

with appreciation in full blast,
and colorful flag at half mast,
He is here early
saying Happy mothers day
Mother.
