You Can Be A Man Or You Can Keep Drowning Yourself In Lies Poem by Jessie Stevens

You Can Be A Man Or You Can Keep Drowning Yourself In Lies

You know that you stabbed a knife in my back
One too many times
You knew what I had been through
But you did it anyway

When you texted me telling me
You’d be over Saturday
And Saturday night came around
And you still hadn’t come

I knew that it was like every other time
I knew that it was like last weekend
All over again and I knew that it would happen
Because that’s what you do

You drown yourself in lie after lie
Until you have to lie to get yourself
Out of the lie you told before
So I would like to tell you something

You can either keep telling lies
Or you can be a man and tell me
How you really feel because after all
I really do deserve the truth from you

Or at least that’s how I feel.
