You Can Never Be Me Poem by Paige Parker

You Can Never Be Me

You can copy my hair
you can copy my style
you can copy my eyes
and you can copy my interests

You can watch what I watch
you can like what I like
You can talk how I talk
and you can write how I write

You can date who I date
you can be friends with my friends
you can read what I read
and you can walk how I walk

You can act how I act
you can laugh when I laugh
you can eat what I eat
and you can do what I do

But you can't copy my thoughts
you can't copy my dreams
you can't mean what I mean
and you can't love who I love

You can't copy my laugh
you can't copy my voice
you can't copy how I fall
and you can't copy how I breathe

So you can never be me
so don't even try
just be you
because no one else can
