You Did This Poem by Emily Casbourn

You Did This

I thought that you'd be different,
Not like the ones before
You made me feel good and it was perfect,
but then something happened
I started to want to see you again,
You told me the same thing
We kept planning things and you'd never let me know
Or you'd just never show
My heart started to feel bruised
I got so nervous,
I ended up talking to my friends about it
They just told me to try with less effort
Finally I did and it made you let me go
Do you remember when we broke up?
You told me that you didn't want to lead me on
It was because you had another girl in mind
I didn't see it at the time
You had given your heart to someone else
You even said that you couldn't deal with a relationship
So you found someone different
I didn't know how to react
I didn't cry
Why should I if it was something that never was
It didn't even begin before it ended
Now three months later
I sit here and cry
I honestly thought you'd be fair and give me a chance
Now it's my turn to break up with you
I am sorry I can't handle boys
I just can't do it
So good-bye to you
I don't need anyone to do that now
You showed me that
Thank you for showing me
For showing me that love is nothing but a poison
A killing drug
It hurt me a lot
