You Don't Own Me Poem by Dashaun Rashod Snipes Mister

You Don't Own Me

You Don't Own Me, I am a wildflower
With petals delicate, yet full of power
I glisten like diamonds under the sun
But my spirit is wild, it cannot be won
I am not a possession to be held
My soul is free, it cannot be quelled
Like a rare diamond, I am unique
No one can own me, I am not meek
Under a bright light, I may shine
But my true essence, you cannot confine
I am more than what meets the eye
My depths are endless, my spirit can't die
You see me from across the room
But you do not know me, not yet groomed
To understand my complexities
My soul's intricacies and hidden beauties
Like the holy spirit, I rise
Unbound by chains or society's lies
My spirit soars and dances in the sky
You cannot cage me, no matter how hard you try
I am not a trophy, not yours to keep
I am a free spirit, wild and deep
My soul is a canvas, constantly evolving
With colors vibrant, constantly revolving
You may think you have me figured out
But my soul is a mystery, there's no doubt
I am a wildflower, blooming with grace
But my true self, you cannot embrace
For I am a force to be reckoned with
My spirit strong, my heart a myth
You cannot claim me, I am not yours
I am a free soul, my own ruler and lord
Like a wildflower, I am resilient
Through storms and hardships, I am brilliant
My spirit may bend, but it will never break
You cannot own me, for my spirit is awake
I may glisten in the spotlight's gleam
But my true strength lies in my unseen
My thoughts, my dreams, my deepest desires
You don't own me, I am my own fire
You can try to possess me, to make me yours
But my spirit cannot be tamed, it soars
I am meant to be free, to roam the wild
You cannot own me, for I am a wild child
I am not a possession, not a thing to hold
My spirit is wild, my heart is bold
You cannot own me, for I am untamed
In my own skin, I am unashamed
So let me be, let me roam free
For in my soul, I hold the key
To my own happiness, my own truth
You don't own me, for I am my own proof.
In this wild world, I am a wildflower
I may glisten with beauty, but my spirit is my power
You cannot own me, I am not for sale
For I am free, I will always prevail.
