You Gave Me A Friend Poem by Danny Ballan

You Gave Me A Friend

You gave me a friend;
With whom I walk the path of life
Leaning on your shoulder once,
Weeping in front of no other's eyes;
Burying the deepest hidden tales-
Of a life full of treasures and waste-
In you I place all my trust,
And miles and miles the road will go
With excitement on every step,
For you are the true company
My heart with whom will go along.

You gave me a lover;
With whom I learn yet how to love,
And fly up high like a white pure dove
In a sky full of possibility;
On a land full of trust
I'll build my house within your eyes-
To start but then never to stop-
Loving you is my holy quest;
For only thus I know that God
Has given me a precious trust,
And sent me here for a worthy cause.

You gave me a life;
And long have I lived before you
Without ever having lived;
And long have I watched the hands of time
Crawling next to me without spending a single moment;
And the eternal cycle of white and black
Has given me years but not an age;
For I was born yesterday-
The day I knew I fell for you-
You gave me life-
To live it and once it's done
To be remembered forever.
