You Knew
By: Taylor Donnelly

She's been sitting on the corner smoking another cigarette but whats new whats new

She's been wait-en on her lover like every other girl but who knew, who knew

I think you do

I know its true

She was breathing that smoke that keeps getting her though

She was tired and her feet they knew they knew

Shes been standing there waiting on you

What else is she to do

Shes been standing there waiting for boys to turn to men

And all of them just wanna find a perfect ten

Like a child listening for a truck that will never pull in

Like the young child waiting to find their sin

What else are we to do

They come along to few to few

So she lights up another

Just like her father

So many took her hand

Swearing that they'd be there, to understand

But with each passing by, her hand falls to her side

It's a tiny fire in the dark of night

It's the cruel path to embark on right?

Without someone to hold your hand

To share your fears and to take a stand

She's been sitting on the corner smoking another cigarette but whats new whats new

She's been wait-en on her lover like every other girl but who knew, who knew

It's too cold to stay

So she will turn away

Waiting on the passion of may
