You, Like Me Poem by Procyon Mukherjee

You, Like Me

Rating: 4.0

Many times I stood before you
And my hands folded in speechless form
My eyes never did the talking
Nor my lips in woken grief
Could know what meaning unfolded

No Collossus, nor the dwarfs of Moria
Just a human, in prayers of my own
I kept quiet lest my prayers be halted
By the words that meant nothing
Of the silence of the remains

I was trying hard to tell you
But not that I could
That you always knew but left unspoken
It grew till it overwhelmingly jostled
To the moment that left you with me

I was only silent and not a word could come
Nor the smallest hint of a letter could form
The extremes of a suggestion
Nor the imaginary traces of what remained
Between, could raise me to the conscience

Of being, or not
You stood there, unwavering, still expectant
Not for me
But to the rising multitudes of emotions
You remained like me
