You Live Every Second Poem by Josh Rodriguez

You Live Every Second

you live every
second

no matter
how badly
you don’t want
to occupy
a moment,

it’s true

but sometimes
you spill your
drink on the
leather,

and you give
that awful
and lonely
look

that lets me
know that
you just
need some
company

and i’m not
good at
much
but i can
make a stiff
drink and
lend an open
ear

and watch
your hair
catch the light
and cast away
the darkness
