You Promised Me Poem by Brodie Montgomery

You Promised Me

Dark, grey, saddened clouds,
Linger above my head.
No one wants to help me out,
It seems as if I'm dead.

Then one day you stopped and looked,
Offered me your hand.
Took those dark and hateful clouds,
Gave me something grand.

When you said 'I love you',
I believed without a doubt.
That when you said 'forever',
I would never pout.

We tried to always be happy,
But didn't always work out.
One day I felt you leave me,
And now I'm full of doubt.

You promised you would never go,
You said that you would stay.
But when I woke up alone and cold,
I knew you'd faded away.

Now I wonder why you left me,
Now I always cry.
I always fall asleep real late,
With tears in my eye.
