You'Re Gone Poem by Marea Johnson

You'Re Gone

As darkness deserts me, I don't hear a sound
The sun comes up slowly and you're not around.

I step in the shower and rinse off my face
trying to wash off the tears that can't be erased.

I put on my coat to face winter today
It seems to be colder since you went away.

I go to my job with no feeling at all
And stare out the window and watch the leaves fall.

I get in my bed and turn out the light
Don't know where you are, but I love you, goodnight.
