Nothing There Poem by Marea Johnson

Nothing There

Rating: 4.2

There's no virtue in my mind
It's something you will never find.

There's no love inside my heart
I wouldn't know where to even start.

Scrub my body head to toe
but the dirt in me will always show.

Dress me in a pretty gown
but I will always let you down.

Paint my lips and comb my hair
but see my eyes?
There's nothing there.

I LIKE THIS PIECE. ITS VERY SIMPLE AND STRAIGHT FORWARD. I WAS ONE OF THOSE GIRLS AT ONE TIME & THAT JUST MAKES IT THAT MUCH EASIER TO RELATE.

A very sad poem but written straight from the heart. So real. Keep writing and sharing. A '10! from me! Warm Wishes, Marilyn

This is so sad, and yet I can relate very well to this. I agree with Meggie, if you can, please describe a girl in a positive manner. Though that one I probably would not be able to relate to. This poem has depth, meaning, emotion, emptiness, and a sadness that is deeper than Satan's abyss. A 10+++++ and thank you for sharing. Love & hugs, Barbara

The deceptively simple rhyming couplets make this sound quite jolly, until you listen to the words. Unfortunately, many girls this might apply to wouldn't even realise how hollow they were inside.

Though many of us feel this way at times, very few can express it as you did. Very nice done.

Much like the blood on the queen's hands in MacBeth... some stains will never leave. Not even when covered by a pretty dress. Incredibly moving,10.
