'You Were...' Poem by Lindemberg Pereira da Silva

'You Were...'

'You were the wind and I the sea'
(Sara Teasdale)

You were... the best of my memories
that I still keep inside me.
You were... my bad mistake,
that I never regreted.
You were... the best thing
that has ever happened to me.

You were...all the lovely words never said,
you meant one by one for me.
You were my fear, my nightmare
the worst, and the best of me.
You were... my nothing,
a bit of myself,
that was my everything.
You were..my heaven,
sometimes, my hell,
my necessary evil.
You were...my sadness,
my happiness, and loneliness
a beautiful smile shining on my face.
You were..a single lonely beautiful flower growing in my garden,
that brought me the most lovely spring.
You were my dark rainy nights of winter,
the best gift that was given to me.

You were... the best of my memories
that I still keep inside me.
You were... my bad mistake,
that I never regreted.
You were... the best thing
that has ever happened to me.
