You Would Know If You Knew Poem by Patrick Calleja

You Would Know If You Knew

It's really hard to forget a girl
Once it comes to doing it
It seems almost impossible
It's really hard to forget
All those moments you've shared
All the times she made you happy
Those times when you made her
Shed that beautiful smile
Like the sun about to rise in the morning
Lighting up your day like nothing else could
The times she made you sad, angry, cry
The times when you would make up
It's not easy at all to forget
All the things you've done for her
All such memories, bursting through your head
Engraved in the back of your skull
Haunting you in your sleep - Persisting you in the day
You can't just ask someone to forget
You would know not to ask - If you knew
Forgetting her seems near impossible
Everywhere you go - You would see her face
Your mind plays tricks on you each day
How are you to forget such a thing
The best thing that had ever happened to you
There is no such thing as a switch to flip
And forget all your feelings you've had
Only time can heal - You would know if you knew
