Your Arid Heart Poem by JOE JOHNSON

Your Arid Heart

Rating: 4.5

It has always been sacrifice and
a sip of poison to be in love with
you, believing in the next chapter
has become bland and static.

You were the only rose in the
desert until you twisted and
curled into something else,
positioned in dark corners and
lost by heart.

But alas I cannot hold you no
longer, your spikes outgrew your
soul. A single push against the tide
and your gone leaving me thirsty
and isolated in the abyss.

I cannot help feel intoxicated
and left with countless questions
was it not you who said yes? Who
asked what is next? My answer shall
be a question as well, why have you
also turned my heart arid?
