Your Day Poem by Mike Hester

Your Day

Take a day, any day
(Not the one with cake and candles.)
Just a day, anyway,
Declare it for yourself.
Drink some Jack, smoke a joint,
Call the bank with silly questions.
Though the world has its own reasons,
Put them on the bottom shelf.
Do something that thrilled you in your childhood -
Fly a kite or tumble in the waves.
Permission comes with all you set your mind to;
After all, you’re living in your day.
Let the force of your life erupt without condition -
Or meet a perfect stranger and see how it all goes.
