Your Eyes Poem by Maclene Marcaida

Your Eyes

Your eyes
separated by a bridge
that travels nonidentical
finite paths. Passageways
of tranquility and doubts
that I walk through to equalize
my thoughts. Your eyes who
fancies moths, sees them as fairies
of supernatural powers, housing
a distinct love that opposes the world.
I have been travelling enormous distances
by freeways, by feet, and by fear
but this I never falter. Ahead of me lies
my image, of truth without trying to
impress. Glows with a million fireflies
in your eyes caged.

For your eyes,
I'd be a warrior, Princess.
A pawn, a king, a knight,
a castle where those
Ivories are secured. Be your eyelids,
be yours, because they're more
than just precious stones.

To see your eyes
is to disappear from Earth and
step on Uranus. To understand
the vastness of your sight.
To stare at the bright nucleus of galaxy.
To know the history
of Corona Borealis and to witness
a masterpiece of Aphrodite.

The distance between your eyes
is so close, as your ears pat on my
chest, as the rounds of infinity are
clasped, how close infinity
to time and universe,
and how you see me
how you look at that
one inch gap - that's us.

Of all wondrous places I've been
it's in your eyes where I want to
remain, you and me in
a city of constellations
an oasis in a desert
a magical kingdom
a gold mine
Heaven.
