Your Words Poem by Aimee Nell

Your Words

So I stay
To listen to your words.
Speaking of nothing
Speaking of everything.
Your words that drive me
To the edge of the cliff.
Your words that swirl around me
And hold me back.
Your words that cut
Like a knife
You words
That could heal me.
Your words so cutting,
So harsh.
Your words so soft,
So soothing.
Your words mean nothing.
Your words mean everything.
-
So I stay,
To listen to your words.
Waiting for you
To speak of something.
Hearing you speak
Of everything.
Being driven
To the edge of the cliff.
And being held back.
Being cut
Again and again.
Wishing
To be healed.
Waiting
For the harshness.
Living
For the softness,
The soothing.
Knowing
Your words mean nothing.
And knowing
Your words mean everything.
So I stay.
To listen to your words.
