Your Words Poem by Alejandro Torres

Your Words

You said you would never hurt me
But you’ve ripped me apart
You’ve torn me to shreds
I gave you something precious
And it’s been thrown away
I knew you’d break me
Before you even did
I knew I’d hate this
Before my cheek felt your kiss
But how could this be
You sit across from me
And I feel like I’m dying
You can’t even manage a smile
And the tension is killing me
Feel like I’ve lost myself
Think I should have kept it all
Hidden in the shadows
Didn’t mean to hurt you
Too bad nothing’s ever mutual
Between us
Feel like a pebble
In your sea of depression
And the water’s drowning me
Faster than I could ever breathe
Of course I couldn’t be a first
But I’m not like the rest
Not after the treasure
Between your feminine thighs
But the one in your chest
I’m not the one after the pleasure
Of your musical sighs
I’m only after your heart
Wonder if it’ll always be
This wonderful
This painful
When I drown in your smile
Don’t know how to breathe
When your eyes catch mine
But I don’t see the sparkle
You’ve lost your shine
Come back
Smile please
I’ll make everything fine
For us both
For good
