Can't you see the cost is clear?
It's a loss that cuts so deep
Leaves a scar you'll always keep
One chance, one shot, one time
But you couldn't see the sign
You let it slip right through your hands
Now you're left with broken strands
Of what could have been, what should have been
But now it's all gone, never to begin
You had it all, right in your grasp
But you let it go, and now it's passed
You've just lost one, my dear
And it's a loss you'll always fear
It's a feeling that eats away inside
A wound that you can never hide

It's a void that can't be filled
A longing that can't be stilled
