/to a dear friend of mine/
So, more on this bright snow-white day,
Allow, Unique, to sing you a lay!
The day suggests a glorious fete,
When His Nativity's complete!
What gift but that versed as a rhyme
Could buy your favor for a dime?
The beckoning star's about to rise.
Lo: here they are, three Magi wise!
The cowshed sheds light within:
The Maiden like uncrowned queen
Attends to Son of royal descent.
The frankincense and myrrh's scent
Laid by the Magi before them
Set with the fragrance Newborn Gem!
Yea, dear love, a standard wish...
Could it be sunk in your heart's niche?
What folks suggest while wishing well
Might pass for iterated spell...
How to couch words suppressed
And find a vent, and find a rest?
Just winter poem, words, words, words...
I cannot seek alternate modes...
The warmth of wintery cornflakes!
The joy of muffins, buns, or cakes!
The whirlpool of the festive craze!
The hearts in given takeaways!
The fizzy glaze of fireworks!
The sour champagne stiff as on rocks!
The jangling din of Grandpa's clock!
The jazzy pace of Holy Flock!
The saintly visions on the night!
The mirth, hilarity, delight!
