Paddy Land

Slightly beside my village, the serpentine dusty track leads to
The greenness all through.
Near the fields, the plants stood like big nails around the Paddy land!
Bulging paddy stalks like sparkling crackers from within;
Golden get up in a couple of months all turn
Bringing life into the heart of the farmers' sojourn.
No ifs and buts; no fits and start;
Nobody is worried whether this leader
Or that officer made some husky commitment.
The paddy fields promise us life to the fuller extent with varieties of food.
From field to the yard until the bullocks in pairs
Move circling on the bundles to separate paddy with care.
I follow them with a stick to whip
And amused to collect dung with a skip from its stalks,
Pounding from time to time
With the rise and fall of the wooden pounder,
The hope of the ladies of the village moves to make their home beautiful further—
Preparing fresh and fine pictures with color rice powder on the clay made walls and floors;
Making puffed rice; flattened rice; fried rice; sun dried or par boiled;
May be idli or pudding or kheer or watered rice, cakes of rice, curd rice
Or pots of yellow rice.
Life in the paddy land is full of hills and valleys leading to the forest
Where there is chirping of birds and sound of loneliness,
All celebrations with paddy!
Paddy hopes in the hearts in the golden land of my village,
Where nobody to care for the traffic rules; no police or ambulance;
Life seems to be cool and seasoned with paddy balance.
