I Knew You Would Come

And there lived two friends named Bill and Harry
Like two little birds lost in the valley.
To each other everything they gave.
Inseparable, they were like sea and wave.
Together they learn, together they play,
Through every difficulty they made their way.
Shared common ambition to serve the country
Rebelled the opinions and joined the army.
Together in same wing they went on war,
Fighting like lions they went on so far.
As the war showed its ugly colours
Both armies lost their brave soldiers.
Their side too lost many of the guns
As many of them got caught in dungeons.
"Harry come and save me", came a voice.
It was Billl, Harry instantly recognised.
Wasting no time towards the general he headed.
‘Let me go', like a child he pleaded.

‘No way, I don't want to lose your head.
By the time you reach there he might be dead.'

Dejected he went back to his place
Couldn't see anything, except Bill's face.
"Harry save me", came the voice again and again.
Unable to sustain he entered the bullet rain.

After some time Harry returned with a shock.
Bill on his shoulder, dead as a rock.

‘Didn't I tell you going there was waste!
I might have lost you in your haste.'

‘I had done the right thing.
Must have done without a blink.
When I reached there Bill's eyes were still wide.
He said this, chest filled with pride.
‘Harry I knew you will forget everything.
Harry I knew you would come…'
