Walking Into The Sunset

They admire you
only and only because
you were a fierce warrior
who raised an army
out of nowhere


They acknowledge
that you developed
that rag tag army
into a fighting unit
having high aspirations


Everybody saw your guts
when at your prime
you used a new weapon
to storm the fort
and succeeded in occupying it


But you must accept
that in the last battle
you were the undisputed leader
and despite your best effort
your army could not win


Age is not on your side
and your army is impatient
they've found a new warrior
to lead them into the battle
to storm the fort again


It pains me to see
that people are saying
that you are sulking in private
refusing to accept the new reality
preferring to relive old glories


Oh, dear, fierce old warrior
accepted, your tribe doesn't retire
old warriors just fade away
but, they, just for the sake of it
don't fight with own disciples


Your place is secure in history
and your army still loves you
but they want to see you
walk into the Sunset
head held high, dignity personified



Now, It's your choice...
