What makes you look so cheerless, Chilika,
Why your vast expanse looks so deadly still?
Or have you lost the key to your eternal charm,
Are you unaware of Spring? of cuckoo's trill?

On such Spring Time days as this
When the whole world around blossoms
....under soft sun rays
....upon soft red roses
...

Come brother, come friend, come let us go
Over to the mountains and the woodlands below
And watch with delight the soft sunrise
From the green glades where the orchids grow.

Yonder, yonder, yonder
The bull carts tread the meadows slow hither
And the early birds fly the mountains thither!
...

Once upon a time... in another clime
Man upon this world... happened to be glad
Enjoying his share... and without any care
Roaming with the bird... and the deer and the pard.
