A Second Chance

It was a cold cold lonely snowy night,
The streets were quiet and oh so white
The chilly wind was blowing in my face
And my heart it longed for a warm solace

I stood under the old rusty lamp
In the hope the dim light would keep me warm
Homeless I am and thus will always be
As times have changed a lot for me

I once had a home and a loving wife
And a daughter that was the light of my life
But doom it is for the man who cant see
How lucky he is till it ceases to be


All that I owned I gambled away
Drank my heart out with each passing day
Not a day went by without tears in her eyes
And a day came by when she broke all ties

I wish I could turn my life around
I wish they could heal this painful wound
I wish I could get a second chance
To regret my doings and pay penance

And just at that moment I felt a small hand
Tugging my sleeve and pulling my hand
''Daddy, come home its getting late
You're always dreaming and making us wait'
