'I'

Sounds, sights, words, thoughts, feelings, emotions.
Are they all that only matters for me, the world and heavens.
Why, where, when, who, me, - the deafening, roaring 'I', unbearable
Ego's citadel, crusty, rusty, crude, imposter, impregnable.

Past I am, etches in memories, packed so tight in passing clouds.
Now I see, I think, but then not too clearly - strained vain, my eyes.
It's past, too fast, stuck in wheels of time, I'm grasping air again.
Ah, maybe I'll look again, straight at morrow's guiding light, I feign.

But hold, it's only the ashes of wishes, the dead past projected.
Always entrapped in yester years of fierce cruel time, vainly repeated.
Wise say, learn from history, or be a sad story of time's eternal cry.
Alas, thus, it's a voice of wilderness, mumbles and grumbles of thundering 'I'.

Sages say, catch the moment, the eternal present, by heart's eyes.
It's neither resurrection of past longings, or future yearnings of lies.
No, not the catacombs of entombed visions, fears or pleasures.
Let's hug the fullness of emptiness, kiss death welcome, to celebrate Life.

Oh, the constancy of my ecstasy, in emptiness, Death, hence of Life.
Plumbing my depth, I ask, how much death, as price of fullest Life.
Thus, die I absolutely, to live completely, compassionately alive in Life.
Oh Life rejoice, forget never your twin Death, to beget Emptiness, as prize.
