They tell you forever
they tell you it will never end
All the while, planning another scheme
Trying to destroy your belief
...

There I was, broken down and destroyed
My hand on the steel of the blade, about to
End a life of misery and despair, when
A breath of life, cutting through the pain,
...

You, alone in a corner, cowering in fear
Waiting for the inevitable blow to fall,
See a hand flash above you, and flinch,
But the hand extends, gently lifts you up,

Illusionist

They tell you forever
they tell you it will never end
All the while, planning another scheme
Trying to destroy your belief
In an illusion called love

An illusion created by the human condition
An illusion fixed in the human psyche
The knowledgeable avoid it, yet get ensnared
I, the mentalist, failed to see it coming
And got caught in the facade
As a person that sees other's pasts, even I
Couldn't see my own future

Caught by the illusionist, my own nightmare
As tears crash around me, I hear the last words
That the preacher of serenity ever heard
Caught in the masquerade of deceit called love
Thus proving that even the strongest of us can
Fall to our foes
The best of a cause can
See the other side
This wasn't a pleasant memory, I admit
But my life is defined by tragedies
Maybe that's why I'm so good at writing them
I live them every time

A plea to others, a call to a certain someone,
Those three words, proof positive of deception
The illusionist pulls you in, poisons your mind
With her tender words, then
Throws you back to suffer with the mortals
All the while laughing, saying
'What a fool'
