If Not For Me

If not for my own self
I would die from loneliness,
the moon would stand still,
time would come to an end.

When it all turns bad,
when torrents start,
when I’m not your dear one
and you are not my sweetheart,
when the odds are all against us,
all shadows indistinct and dull,
even I, with the boiling blood,
would choke up and stumble falling
before the signpost
for those who are in love...

Running away is just a lie,
an excuse for the lost ones.
