Raven Yang Poems

Gazed at us from the moon
You shall only see a point of light
Shining on the darkening silent continent
So, come closer...

I'm empty though knowledge is full of my head
I'm waiting for an impossible kindest reply
I keep on apologizing and that's actually nothing
I don't want to feel, and you're unforgiving.

To Wake Up The Sleeping Universe

Gazed at us from the moon
You shall only see a point of light
Shining on the darkening silent continent
So, come closer...
Gazed at us from the rooftops
We were probably a straight line, a forced group
A long black shadow under a pale street lamp
I was the second girl in the first row
No one would notice me, 'cause I was so ordinary

So I lifted my eyes from under the brim
The quiet deep blue night, the innumerable points of light,
But I was lost, though my body still stood
upright in the lifeless line

I looked up and touched thee,
Venus, I know, the whirling dance
Van gogh arrived in your arms on a train called death.

I picked up my toes, gently, no one would ever know
Low moon, hanging on the balcony of the glass building
You could see the ocean, you could see the curvature of the horizon,
you could see the brightest lights in Asia at this side of night,
And I could only...

I jumped up carefully, onto the roof,
and no one would notice my disappearance
The line moved, slogans shouted loud and hard, but distant
I was a few meters closer to the faraway you.

I couldn't help but jump on the tough lovely ground -
Or to the cold or warm embrace of the universe?
So I didn't hesitate, even not for a second
The wind blew on my wet, sweat-soaked hair
I flew to the moon, as the warm white smoke
from the highest chimney in the woods,
changes direction freely in the crazy wind

I clenched the crumpled manuscript in my hand
I begged you to read my poem, which was written in a lost language
You frowned, stared at the strange words, and then didn't read on
You told me it was good, though you couldn't recognize a word

Then I caught a glimpse of the last second of the eclipse
I slipped on the edge of an arm of the Milky Way galaxy
Those rays were blurred, pupils opened wide
Dwindling sight, subsiding night
I didn't know why, why,
Through a dying man's eyes
The world is brighter than the hottest light
I lowered my head and looked around at the line beside me
Marching in perfect unison, but silently
Except for the footsteps, just me
Wanting to wake up everything, wake up the sleeping universe.
