A rope laced with thorns and roses adorned her neck,
With every word she never said,
The rope inched closer and closer.
...
The Golden Resurrection
A rope laced with thorns and roses adorned her neck,
With every word she never said,
The rope inched closer and closer.
Slowly filling the never-ending abyss between her skin and death.
Until it was just enough to make it her last breath,
Just enough to silence her screams,
Just enough to break her dreams and think of extremes.
Fragments of her life flashed before her.
A girl who had dusted cinnamon on her cheeks,
was crowned with daisy chains,
flying a paper plane.
Her body was embellished with pearls and diamonds of the Earth.
Until their voices chiselled the gems away from her,
And made daisy crowns wither.
Until her paper planes crumpled with deformation.
And the freckles soon faded with layers of foundation.
When they started calling her names,
She started dimming her flames.
When their voices ripped her apart.
All that was left was an aching heart.
She felt scattered and alone,
Left broken to explore the unknown.
If only someone could unleash her from this madness.
The rope inched closer and closer…
She held her breath, waiting for it to be over.
Then all of a sudden the rope fell to the ground.
Her wounds were replaced with a necklace of flowers.
Metals and minerals formed a crown against her worn head.
Silencing, everything they ever said.
A heavenly voice sang through her and from within her.
Comforting her mind and soothing her soul.
He said:
"Don't be afraid of them my child,
But let your love run wild.
I am something greater,
Believe me, when I say, I am your creator.
Before time was comprehended,
And angels from heaven descended,
I created beauty and I created you.
You were in my mind before I dyed the sky blue.
Listen to me when I say,
You are worth more than you weigh.
Kindle the fire in your soul,
Let my love be your coal.
Because when you seek me,
I will fill your scars with stars.
Believe me and you'll see,
That you are my perfect imperfection.
