In Between Words

I hold my breath
atop my heaving breast
as shadows form around my voice
caressing the phrase that begins to form

My love is untold
lost in charlatan serenades
untied by any bond
or frightened of rejection

Alone I hear the meager rumblings
Of tense souls, fluttering at jealousy
of lost moments and listed fame
of carved idols, and pressured peers

I sense my humility eat away
as I slumber into an endless night
of needle like winter
pricking solitary carbuncles

hustling precious pioneers
into lost sleep
and overburdened bellies
missing fractured canvases

let aloud my tremor
hold the slender waist
ill fated to meet amour
face to face,

Yet, hidden in masqueraded fancy!
