Going For Gold

I've said things that I really regret,
Whatever happened to forgive and forget?
I can't forgive myself for what was said,
So how can I forget, I'm feeling dead!

A wise man once said don't beat yourself down,
But I continue to sit here, I'm starting to drown!
Feelings come to the surface that I've not felt for years,
The kind of feelings that reduce men to tears!

How can anyone know what I'm feeling?
Right now I need supernatural healing!
Where is God in all this? I can't hear him speak,
Why has he left me feeling this weak?

He said I'll always be with you and never forsake!
But right now this pain I can't take!
Broken, battered and bruised,
Left for dead and constantly used!

But I've come through the mire before,
And I know that I'll do it once more!
I've been from heaven to the depths of hell,
And back to heaven with stories to tell!

Stories so dark that you can't comprehend,
Of pain and brokenness that knows no end!
But now I've seen heaven here on earth,
I'm aware of the spiritual rebirth!

So I'll fix my gaze on heavenly things,
A world unbroken like Olympic rings,
I'm going for gold in this race called life,
So one day there'll be no more trouble or strife!
